Monday Zoom Scripture Conversations – Join with others by Zoom on Mondays (except for stat holidays) at 4:30 pm for stimulating conversation and reflection on the Bible lectionary readings for the week. The atmosphere is open and encouraging; no Bible experience is needed.  All are welcome to join in the discussion any time you are able from September through June.  Please contact the church office to get the Zoom link.

Zoom Tea Parties – Although we are keeping physical distance between us these days, we don’t have to be socially isolated from one another. Parkdale United Church is hosting Tea Parties where we can get together using Zoom. It gives us a chance to visit with each other and catch up, while sitting in the comfort of our own homes with a cup of tea. Please contact the church office for the tea party dates and the Zoom login information.  We hope you will join us for tea and a chat!

Our next Book Club is scheduled to meet on Saturday, October 10th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.  This will be a virtual gathering, using Zoom.  Contact the church office to get the Zoom link to connect to the meeting.  Our October book selection is Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott.  Read more about the reading selections for the 2020-2021 season and our September discussion in the Parkdale Book Club September Newsletter.

Solar Panels and High-Efficiency Boilers:  Nobody Need Wait to Improve the World!

Parkdale United Church is committed to protecting God’s wonderful creation and ensuring that we have a “green” facility.  In March 2020, we installed 99 solar panels on the roof of our sanctuary.  This exciting project is the culmination of a year of planning, working with Sky Fire Energy who designed our solar energy system.  There are 45 panels on the west-facing roof of our sanctuary and 54 panels on the east-facing roof.  Each panel is capable of generating 395 watts of solar energy.  The combined capacity of all the panels is 39.105 kilowatts.  The solar panels allow us to generate electricity for our own use as well as contribute some back to the grid.  See photos of Parkdale United Church New Solar Panels.  View the Historic and Current Power Generation of our new solar panels!

In 2018, we replaced our 55-year-old boilers that were 55% efficient with new boilers that are 85% efficient.  Hank’s Plumbing & Gasfitting Ltd. installed our new boilers that save 30 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.  See a photo of our New Boilers.

Weekly Spiritual Reflection

Each week, we send out a “Spiritual Reflection” to individuals who are on our email mailing list.  We send a blessing along with these reflections, hoping that the quotes and photographs will bring you peace, joy or encouragement for the week. If you would like to receive our weekly Spiritual Reflections, please contact the church to have your name added to our mailing list.   Click here for the September 20th Spiritual Reflection.  We invite you to view a gallery of some of our past Spiritual Reflections.
