At Parkdale United Church, we believe that all members of our church community are ministers. We embrace the idea that “worship and work must be one.” Individuals can express their ministry in many ways such as offering pastoral care, teaching Sunday School, preparing coffee for social events, folding bulletins, serving on a committee, knitting prayer shawls, singing in the choir, participating in outreach endeavours, offering healing touch and volunteering with community agencies. We believe that part of the role of the church is to help people identify and develop their gifts and talents, and to support them in discovering meaningful ways for using their talents. Sometimes, ministry happens within the church. Sometimes, the church provides a place for nourishment and encouragement, thereby equipping people to live out their ministry in the wider community. Ministry opportunities can be grouped in four main areas:

  • Worship: Experiencing the Sacred
  • Community Life: Building Connections through Fellowship and Care
  • Education: Developing and Living Faith
  • Outreach and Service: Acting for Justice

Worship: Experiencing the Sacred

Sunday Morning Worship Services, 10:30 a.m. We can encounter the sacred at any time. When we integrate our faith with our daily living, everything we do can be an act of worship, bringing joy and hope to life and allowing us to experience God’s presence. In addition to the sacred experiences that weave through our lives, we at Parkdale United Church gather together on Sunday mornings at 10:30 to be intentional about worship. We pause to be still, listen, hear God’s Word, sing praise, offer prayers of thanksgiving and concern, participate in sacraments of communion and baptism, and reflect on what it is that God might be calling each of us to do and be. Outreach and Service: Acting for Justice

“And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 Parkdale United Church is a centre for social justice where we embrace God’s vision of equity, justice and well-being for all.
